Re: New to this need upgrade/GPS help-- Alltel Touch 6900

I've got mine up and running, try following this post.

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=36377

I upgraded using the latest Alltel ROM from the HTC web site and also followed the above procedure and my GPS has been working great.

Re: New to this need upgrade/GPS help-- Alltel Touch 6900

Ater flashing with the new HTC ROM, you need to make sure that:

START>SETTINGS>PERSONAL (tab)>PHONE>SERVICES(tab)>LOCATION SETTING(get settings...)> is set to ON.

Also, START>SETTINGS>SYSTEM(tab)>EXTERNAL GPS>GPS PROGRAM PORT>is set to COM4 and under the HARDWARE(tab) the GPS HARDWARE PORT is set to NONE and BAUD RATE is set to 4800.

Do a soft reset. Go to m.google.com and download the Google Maps app. After it's installed and you open it up go under the menu and pick "USE GPS". That's how I got my Altell HTEC Touch to work.

Go to settings - phone - services - hilight location setting - click on get setting - pick on. Your GPS should work.

You are running Windows Mobile 6.0
I suggest you upgrade to 6.1 or 6.5
There are stock rom upgrades in the upgrade forum or you can unlock and flash a custom 6.1 or 6.5 rom.
