headset wont stay on for things other than calls

i have a bell htc touch running nfsfans rom with wm6.1.
and i have a sony ps3 headset it works great for calls, but if i want to listen to music or something it will disengage after a few seconds and i have to tap the power on the headset to resync with the phone for a few more seconds
rinse and repeat

any idea how to leave headset on

you may or may not have a program called bluetooth audio. It allows you to keep the headset active for all audio coming from the phone. Is this what you're using, cause if not you should give it a try.
