Screen Broke? Upgrade to Diamond?

Hello Everyone, I have a Touch that i have had for about 10 months. I always carry my touch in the belt pouch that came with it, but when im at home, i sometimes keep it in my pocket since im not wearing a belt.

Anyways, I was laying on the couch, watching some news, and playing a game on my phone. I put the phone in my pocket to let my dogs go pee, popped some left overs in the microwave, and then received a text... I look at my phone, and this is what my screen looks like.... nothing was in my pocket, and i did nothing "crazy" to damage the phone.


Now i would hate calling up insurance and getting a refurbishment touch... I was hopefully gonna wait and hold onto my touch (before this happened) and try to upgrade to the Touch HD whenever that came out.... My question is, how would I go about getting a Diamond (or pro) for cheap or free even...? I have been with sprint for nearly 10 years now, have 4 phone all on unlimited data/text plan.

How does everyone go about upgrading their phones when new ones come out ? (or do they just pay for the phone outright?)

Has anyone ever seen this? or know whats wrong? Ive tried pressing down on the spot with "dead" pixels, see if it would make it worse, no luck. i cont know what has happened?

depending on who you talk to in the insurance dept. they will sometimes send you a new one. i've gotten 2 brand new ones in the past. they seem to like sending out the refurbished ones though
