slick messenger keyboard error

downloaded this program and it looks like it works well. I can receive IM and pictures and files but when I try to reply I have no keyboard to use. I think the problem is in the program because it allowed me to use the keyboard to setup the account just doesn't let me use it while trying to chat. I can send smiley and files but no text. anyone used this program and found a walk around
