First time flasher!

So I'm just about to pull the trigger on flashing my Verizon VX 6900 to the Sprint/HTC ROM posted on the HTC website to enable GPS/etc. I think I've read over most of the material necessary to make this work (don't allow customizations to run).... but wouldn't mind a sanity check from someone who's in the know on here.

-I'm being a bit conservative... really just want GPS to work.
-Currently I have an unlimited data plan and use the GOOD messaging service for corporate e-mail.... any known issues with that app?

Anything else I should know about this process before I get myself in trouble? Recommendations? Maybe any really good/stable ROMS based off this one everyone would recommend?

Only things I really want beyond the above are Google Maps of course, and a good graphing calculator program for my Calc class lol.

Thanks!

Re: First time flasher!

Worked liked a charm. Went through the process as outlined in those two posts..... only sticky part is the instructions when first unlocking the phone with 2.31.coke utility. The rom updater wants an activesync connection, but in reality you're supposed to leave it on the rainbow screen. Minor doc problem there.

Otherwise... I have the new rom installed.... called Verizon and had the phone re-authenticated.... downloaded google maps and am finding satellites! Data speeds seem quicker at a first glance to.

Now to call my helpdesk and see if GOOD messaging works...

Many thanks!

I'm about to take the plunge also. When you did yours, did you have the 1.60.30 radio? If so, did unlocking with the Coke utility 2.31 work? I'm seeing conflicting info that you must use the Coke utility ver 0.41 with the older radio. Once the upgraded radio is ver 3.xx, I am reading that then you can use Coke 2.31.

Any others have more experience?
