Camera button BROKEN ????

It looks like my camera button is broken.

If I press it, it doesn't open the camera app, and if I open the camera app myself, it doesn't even take a picture, I need to used the action button.

I've already checked in the buttons setting to make sure it was still mapped to "CAMERA" function.

Is there something else that may cause this or is it just a hardware failure from one of the many falls the phone took?

Any Ideas on how to repair or replace it ?

do you have insurance? i think a new touch is only 50$. tell your carrier about the problem and maybe theyll work out a deal on an upgrade.

No insurance...bought it a little less that a year ago on a three year contract.

When they see the abuse on the housing I don't think they'll want to repair it under warranty. This is HELL MOBILITY we're talking about...

the buttons in the chrome strip seem to be quite fragile, I know of someone else with your problem and my power button ceased functioning after a 8" fall from my pocket to the ground when opening the car door.
I just allow wake up from any hard button and use S2U2 to lock the screen to avoid outgoing random pocket calls.

Could be simple as taking a t5 screw diver removing a few things being careful of how to do so and then placing that particular button back in its proper place. When I changed cases on my phone I forgot about the slider button and it took about 15mins but I fixxed it no problem...But since you dont have insurance I'm not sure what to tell you because if its only a camera button and your phone has taken so much abuse maybe you should consieder insurance or TAKE BETTER CARE OF YOUR PHONE...

Kidding aside, I ordered a pda repair kit, which include a T5 screwdriver and a plastic prying tool (always good to have anyway) and I'll open that sucker up.

When you change the case or housing does it include the metalic (chrome) frame? cuz mine as a lot of scratches and dings...(I wonder if this was caused from all the drops???)

They just sent this email one day I would have never even found the site but I must have signed up for something that advertised them because they sent me a pass code I used it and got the promo but it didn't work again...I tried to use it for a new LCD and it said the code was invalid...Right now I'm trying to figure out how to place the guts from the Vogue into a ppc with a bigger LCD so that I will have a larger display...I played around a bit and 2 LCD screens later I decided to wait and see if it happens anywhere else so that i get get a clue if its possible or not...
