the buttons in the chrome strip seem to be quite fragile, I know of someone else with your problem and my power button ceased functioning after a 8" fall from my pocket to the ground when opening the car door.
I just allow wake up from any hard button and use S2U2 to lock the screen to avoid outgoing random pocket calls.
