Re: HTC Touch and GPS Problems

the alltel rom does enable gps but if you do flash it then make sure you DO NOT let the customizations run.i am not 100% sure but here is a link to flash your radio only so you can keep your curent rom. ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Vogue/Radio_Roms/ .the one at the bottom 3.42.30 is the newest alltel radio and is gps enabled. i hope this helps and be very careful if you do flash your radio as this can really mess your phone up if you do not finish the flash. You should go here first and use the imcokemans unlocker http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20370. as i said this is potentially dangerous so make sure to read more about flashing radios before you do this. and you have yo unlock your phone with the 2.31 unlocked first.

Re: HTC Touch and GPS Problems

If u still having trouble with GPS on your vogue, go to this link:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=21278

it works on my vogue, i'll set it to standalone mode GPS on GPS regedit so u don't need cellular network to get your position lock.

How is it working for these people, then, with no internal GPS antenna?

its not that it doesnt have a gps antenna, its that the radio version uscc released doesnt support it. other carriers radio roms are an upgrade and make the radio work. quite nicely i might add.

Re: HTC Touch and GPS Problems

the vogue doesn't have a GPS antenna per-se, but it does have the aGPS function which is used for 911 location purposes. A radio upgrade enables the software to use aGPS as if it were regular GPS. US Cellular has released a ROM update which enables this function, as well as WinMo 6.1. You should just download and run the update from the HTC America website. That should do it. Then you can use Google Maps or Live Search or whatever else you like. Going to do it to my friends phone (I have Sprint), and i'll post the results...
