Question XV6900: Micro SD card problems

I've been reading the thread on the Micro SD cards suddenly erased. Mine SanDisk 2GB) was working fine, then suddenly, it erased. Now, I can't get the phone to see/use the card at all. I've taken it out, and put it in my PC to format. Computer says it hasn't been formatted. When I try to do it, it says it can't format it.
WTF?
Any tips?

Under FILE EXPLORER it shows the STORAGE CARD (with Inbox file only)
When I go under the camera, it won't even show me there is a card to store things on.

Re: XV6900: Micro SD card problems

What adaptor did you use to plug microSD into PC? If it was a standard SD adaptor, did you make sure the side tab was in it's UNlocked position?

If all else fails, don't feel too bad. These 2 gig cards are down to just about a dollar or so. Complete with shipping, you can have one delivered in a few days for $6.94 from Amazon:

Hope this helps, MrG

Re: XV6900: Micro SD card problems

I'd say it's a bad card. Suggestion-get a SDHC replacement. The Touch did have problems with the WM6 ROM due to the SD card .dll conflicting with non-SDHC cards (in about 85% of the cases). The 6.1 ROM fixes the problem but a SDHC will work better than a standard SD.

Re: XV6900: Micro SD card problems

Thanks guys. I may have a bad card then. I'll get a new one and see if it'll work.

Re: XV6900: Micro SD card problems

There are utilities out there that specialize in data card recovery. A few years ago I used on to recover photos from a seemingly dead card.

Re: XV6900: Micro SD card problems

I use PCI file recovery. I discovered it when I was having the dreaded Touch SD card is full of gibberish thing. It works well, but if the card is bad I doubt if anything will save it.
It's free. Get it here:

Re: XV6900: Micro SD card problems

I'm not worried about the files...as I have them all in my PC.
It appears the storage card is there..as it's listed in FILE EXPLORER.
But elsewhere...it doesn't give me the option to save things there...only DEVICE.

Re: XV6900: Micro SD card problems

Stop! Dont go get a new card. Mine did this today all of a sudden, I had the same error message on my desktop. If your PPC still reads it under the memory screen under settings it will show that all the storage that was on there is still there just not visible. I ended up putting my card into my wives VZW Chocolate and reformatting it and it worked like a brand new card in my 6900. If you can do this instead it would save you the cost of the card, just use any cellphones format function.

Re: XV6900: Micro SD card problems

Ian...
Double thanks!
I took your advice, and formatted the card in a different phone and now my phone sees the card again!

Under file manager, it says STORAGE CARD, and there is another entry as STORAGE CARD2. This is the card, and so far it's working fine.

Thanks for the advice!
