Query: How to browse internet using home internet connection?

Sorry for the post, I've searched the entire forum but I couldnt find a relevant thread to post my query.

I would like to know how I can configure my Touch to use my home desktop PC's internet connection using the USB cable, so that I can browse the net on the phone using my domestic internet broadband connection.

would that be like a reverse tethering I'm also interested to see if this is possible...

That's what activesync does. When you're connected via activesync, your phone will use the PC it's connected to for internet.

It doesnt work for me. My phone still dials my phone connection settings when acessing the net even when it is connected via activesync. Could you elaborate on how I could fix this please? Thank you.

there is a thread for a 3rd "potential" option using the bluetooth connection in ICS, but it's pretty involved and not guaranteed to work.

I unchecked allow wireless connection while connected to desktop and pow I was cruising the net on my phone throuch my desktop connection

I presume you mean the option under the connection settings in ActiveSync? I unchecked that option but it still doesnt let me connect. The PIE tries to connect to the Net using the desktop connection and then shows an error asking me to "check connection and try again"

This is so frustrating, my push mail (SEVEN) which needs a "full time on" data link thru to the Net gets cut when Im trying to charge and sync my phone using ActiveSync.

Does anybody have a resolution for this please?

ya i cant do that either.. i used to be able to do that when i had oem sprint rom on it but when i updated to To0's rom it doesnt work even though my phone and WMDC settings are both on 'enable internet' settings through bluetooth or USB, someone help plz..

this is the only internet connection i use (tether to pc) mostly just for updating weather. i dont have data plan with carrier. it was alittle tricky at first but once i set it up it was easy. the problem is not active sync on your pc. you need to set your touch phone to use the usb connection not the phone number. start-settings=connections tab. usb to pc i think i have the enable advance box checked. is active sync establishing a connection fine? if yes then you should be able to access the internet via your usb tether to pc and out to the magic internet via your broadband. you can also probably do this via bluetooth if your pc can pair with your phone via bluetooth but i dont have blutooth on my pc. now if we only had wifi we could connect anywhere there is a wifi connection....(we dont btw)
