US Cellular HTC Touch Options

Hello. Just got myself a new HTC Touch (Vogu100) and was wondering if there was any way i could do a couple things with it:

A) In my area USC doesn't have EVDO (big surprise there) But verizon does. Was wondering if there is any way to force the data service to use verizon's EVDO here? USC and Verizon have data roaming agreements (i believe) so that i'm not worried about roaming.

b) get the stupid GPS to work. I've read quite a bit about unlocking and flashing this phones with other roms, but everything i've read for CDMA seems to be aimed toward sprint/alltel.

Anyway, here's some info on the phone:

On Bootloader screen i get this info:

SPL- 0.36.0000
CPLD - 3

Device info -

Radio Version - 2.32.00
Rom Ver. 1.21.573.1

There is also some more info on bootup, but i'm not sure if it makes any difference.

I have also have the SPC code if needed for anything.

If anyone has any more info about the US Cell HTC touch, or really anything that i may need to know, please Post. Thanks.

Re: US Cellular HTC Touch Options

bump. Anyone have any info on this at all? Is making it work on verizon EVDO service here as simple as a PRL change or is it even possible?

I've sent HTC and USC an email asking when the 6.1 update will be out for the US Cell HTC Touch

You may want to search this forum for solutions. sometimes these topics have been touched on already and thats why you might not get a response. on another note though, US CELLULAR service does not support any of the mods or upgrades you might be looking for. unfortunately they do not have the technology available for the touch or the mogul to 100% to the user on their network (SOL). right now i have a friend torn on keeping his free incoming min. or going to another carrier that will allow him the satisfaction of using such a featured packed phone to all its ability. fr him its a tough choice, for me it was a no brainer being a prior usc customer myself. some things you just gotta let go.

Re: US Cellular HTC Touch Options

I've been wondering the same thing. I have a US Cellular HTC Touch Pro and I currently live in a roaming area, so my phone is using Verizon's network rather than US Cell's. Since Verizon has EVDO here, I wish my phone would default to EVDO, but it doesn't and defaults to 1X. However, there is a setting in the phone settings called Mode of Operation that I was able to switch to force EVDO only, and it used Verizon's EVDO just fine. But when the phone isn't allowed to use 1X, it can't receive calls or text messages, which makes the EVDO only setting practically useless.

So, I would like to have a way to make the default hybrid mode use Verizon's EVDO without being forced, but I haven't found any information on how to do that. Can anyone help?

Re: US Cellular HTC Touch Options

There is no EVDO roaming agreement between USCC and VZW at this time. Also, I don't believe you can receive calls during an active data session.

I'm not sure I understand what this means. What mods or upgrades does the U.S. Cellular network not support "to 100% to the user on their network"?

Well there must be an agreement of some kind because my phone uses Verizon's EVDO just fine when I use the "Mode of Operation" settings to force it. I'm just wondering if there's a way to have it default to EVDO (using the "hybrid" setting in Mode of Operation) without me forcing it, because when it's forced it doesn't automatically switch to 1X for incoming calls and texts.

When I have it set to hybrid it doesn't use EVDO at all, even though an EVDO network is available and usable.

Re: US Cellular HTC Touch Options

To the original poster with a Vogue(if you still need this info) I believe you will need to change to a diff radio. I would say try the Bell 3.42.50. That radio is available in this thread:http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=74304 Try the instructions in post 12 to get gps working.Or you could try the Verizon radio which is in this post:http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=997588 To those Touch Pro users, post your questions in the Touch Pro forum so there will be less confusion. Hope this helps !
