Sprint Touch Problems..charging/data port not working?

I have a Sprint HTC Touch, and just as it goes outside the return period, I seem to be having major issues with it.

I started having the freezing problems that I see others have had for a week or two (Touch wouldn't wake from sleep, had to do soft reset each time, etc.). Then seemingly out of the blue, I couldn't get it to charge - not from an outlet, or from the USB connector. On two computers I tried plugging it in to get it to sync, and both times neither the phone or the PC recognized that anything was plugged in.

It seems as though the data/charging port mysteriously stopped working, but I have no idea if its possible to fix that. Any ideas? The battery is too low to flash the ROM, but I already tried a hard reset.
