Accessory questions

Hi,

I bought a cheap car charger for my touch on Ebay a few weeks ago and the issue that I having is that the charger prevents the battery from draining, but doesn't actually charge the battery.

For example, if my battery is at 34%, using the car charger maintains my battery life @ 34%. If I use wall charger, the battery actually charges under the same usage.

I went to the store today to try one of their chargers-but same thing happened.

This is not what's supposed to happen, right? Can anyone recommend a charger that actually charges the battery?

Re: Accessory questions

Most car chargers provide a trickle charge... meaning, it will sloooowly charge your battery, but will prevent any drainage from standard usage. They will typically add charge if left plugged in for an extended period of time, so If you are just doing quick drives, you won;t notice any charge at all...

With that being said, there was a charger sold on ebay for the 6700 and also for treo 650. It plugged into the cigarette lighter and just had a usb port on it. You would then plug in your usb sync/charge cable and it would provide the same charge as being plugged in to your computer. I heard they were kinda dangerous and would void your warranty etc... but I never had a problem - I still have mine and use it all the time.

Do a search for "Rapid" car chargers as well - might help you out.

Re: Accessory questions

Just look around for one that puts out 5vdc (very important) and at least 750ma (although 1amp is always better)

Re: Accessory questions

I also seem to have this effect, but I also notice it happens if I'm 'using' the phone. Like running GPS, talking, or playing music. If I just leave it, and charge it, it seems to charge pretty rapidly. Percentage wise, anyway. Don't have exact numbers, but a half hour drive to work, non-usage, starting at 50%, get's to around 80~90%.
