Dropped Touch off of 2nd floor balcony

So last night I ended up dropping my phone off my balcony while talkign on it. There didn't seem to be much damage to the phone aside from some scratches and the battery and door came off. Although it wouldn't turn on. When I plugged it into the charger I got the red LED of death.

I have no insurance on the phone and had previously opened it up because I went swimming with it (had to dip the mail board in isopropyl alcohol and it worked). I tried to same technique used when I went swimming only to have no luck. I couldn't see anything visibly missing from the chipset but alot is covered by the metalic parts.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it or get a new touch without paying full price for it?

Thanks!

If you had it for less than a year, you can still use the warranty on it... Receipt is a plus.

I think my warranty is void because I opened the phone before and took the water damage stickers off? No?

Well, you could do something called insurance fraud. I think its rather immoral, but YMMV
But it does involve risks and waiting 1 month. Call and add TEP to your plan. After a month you can say you lost it, which means you pay $50 and get a new one.

Verizon doesn't allow insurance to be added after 7 days of purchase. At lease not in the Connecticut.

Re: Dropped Touch off of 2nd floor balcony

Found a couple of touches on ebay for less than $100 that claim to have clean ESNs.

Based on some of these prices I'm not gonna spend more than $150 on ebay.

Guy at the sprint stand said he could push an upgrade on my brothers line for $100 but my brother said no.

In order to add TEP, you have to be calling from the phone you are putting insurance on--they verify it by calling the number

i think you should find a whole different phone, something more durable, water resistant and able to handle your clumsiness.

Ended up buying a Touch on ebay for $180 with shipping guy claims it was never used.
