Touch completely messed up after Airplane ride

So I recently went to Vegas for a nice vacation and the night before I left I put Quickmenu on my Touch (only new program I installed prior to boarding the plane). While on the plane I turned my phone off and it was fine. Landed in Houston for a layover and turned it back on, but when I got back on the plane I forgot to turn it off. When I landed in Vegas I tried changing the time (because the time synch doesn't work because I am using Dharvey's 2.8 Rom), but it just froze...so I soft reset. Whenever I tried to come back from the soft reset it would take like 10min. to reboot and when it did, it would be SLOWWWWWWWWWWW. I also noticed that when I got off the plane it was really warm. So I tried soft resetting it like 4 times, and everytime I had the same result. After like an hour of messing with my phone I decided I should just hard reset and restore it from a SPB Backup I had made like 2 weeks prior. After I hard reset and restored, everything seemed fine for the rest of the day.

However, later that night everything started going SLOWWWWWWWWWW again. It took forever to load any program and Weatherpanel would just not update at all. So I soft reset a few times again and each time it loaded at a normal speed, but once loaded all of the functions were insanely lagged. After getting frustrated again I decided to hard reset again and restore from the same backup. It's been 1 week since the initial hard reset and everything has been fine so far. It just sucked because I spent some un-needed time of my vacation fixing my phone just to get it to work.

I really don't know what went wrong with my phone, I just know I'm never leaving it on during a airplane ride again and im not going anywhere near quickmenu for now...at least not until I flash a new rom again.

On another quick note, on the airplane ride home I turned my phone off before boarding the plane, but when I got off the plane my phone was turned on again...hmmm...

Re: Touch completely messed up after Airplane ride

About a month ago something very similar happened to me. I was using an older version of Ghetto's ROM. I was on vacation in an area that had very poor Sprint service. One morning I tried using the phone and it was VERY slow. Couldn't browse the internet and barely make calls. Soft rebooted and startup took forever.

Long story short, I couldn't fix it...tried everything. I had to reflash to Ghetto's newest ROM and it's been working fine since.

Re: Touch completely messed up after Airplane ride

I had similar problem about a month or so ago. But it was not due to a plane ride, it just started acting like that.
The tech at a Sprint store actually said the Touch does that at time, and it seems the fix is to reflashed (luckly that was right afte the official 6.1 ROM was released by Sprint so I flashed to that) and all worked fine and has been since

Re: Touch completely messed up after Airplane ride

Happened to me once when I was staying at a friends place in the "sticks".
The only was to resolve was a hard reset.
Fortunately I use Sprite backup and do nightly backups to my card (I keep an archive of 10 of them - then have the software delete the oldest each night a new one is written).
Restored from the prior day's backup and all was well.
Everything except my bluetooth pairings were restored.

Happened to me using a stock USCell ROM. Haven't heard the diagnosis yet but they replaced the phone -- no one could get it to boot up past welcome screen unless in safe mode.

Yea it hard, and thinking more on it the area I was in when it started to happen could be considered the sticks (very poor signal).

Re: Touch completely messed up after Airplane ride

Instead of making a new thread I figure I might as well say it happened again. This time it happened when I was in Queens, NY...The phone just completely screwed up for me and wouldn't even soft reset without giving me some error like "cannot reset the device due to being shutdown improperly or from a error from a recently installed application", I didnt install anything new on the phone recently...but yea.

I guess having the touch in an area where there is no signal can completely screw it up.

Ended up having to do a hard reset. This blows...but it's ok I guess because I was planning on reflashing soon to a new ROM...this is just sooner than I expected.

Re: Touch completely messed up after Airplane ride

I guess this problem seems to always happen when the phone is constantly searching for a signal... I noticed this started to happen when I installed apps that messed with my carrier display...
