Re: Which Micro Sd
Micro SDHC Is actually the recommended format for the Touch. It can use regular micro SD cards fine but the registry and file settings are all set up for the SDHC cards, which will perform better because of the better transfer rate (less MP3 and pix issues). My other suggestion is to keep a backup of the card on your PC, and update it frequently. WM 6.1 may have alleviated some of the known SD issues with the Touch, but it's much better to be safe than sorry. Welcome aboard!

Re: Which Micro Sd
Guitardoc64 is right on. If you want the most from your Touch and a card, get micro SDHC. I personally use the Sandisk 8GB micro SDHC card and it is fast and works very well. Picked it up online for like $35...

Re: Which Micro Sd
Lots of good info/suggestions here. Why get 4GB when 8GB is only $25.93 at Amazon?
http://tinyurl.com/5s5mwq Will SanDisk continue to hold back the 16 gig microSDHC they promised to release this summer? |

Re: Which Micro Sd
I have the 8gb Sd card and I have never had any problems with anything ever. I have installed roms on to the phone, cleared out all of the memory started up from scratch and the SD card was not touched. (however, I usually take it out if I am flashing.
I have tons of music on the card.. take all my pictures on it.. and install/run all of my non essential programs from it. Again I have never has a problem with itand it works great. Quote:
***note*** I just actually took the card out and looked... it is indeed an HC. whatever that means. but i still have no problems with it.

Re: Which Micro Sd
The distinction between microSD (non HC) and microSDHC is that the former has its own controller on the card, versus the latter which has no controller. That allows HC cards more room for memory so they can have high capacity, but requires their host device to supply a controller. Our PDAs can easily do this, I'm guessing \Windows\SDHC.dll is the driver/controller? In any case, it's not surprising that the guitardoc has noticed Touch performs better with HC, because it's controlled by Touch's own driver (versus non-HC using whatever controller is on the card).

Re: Which Micro Sd
class 6 sdhc 4gb transcends here - got a pair for, er, 24$ shipped, on in my mogul one in the wife's touch. No issues with either.
Class 6 is speedy. Class 4 would be the minimum I would get these days. |
