Re: HTC Home Weather not updating/Device not Syncing correctly

Actually- thats not the first step for Hard resetting, its the first step for loading a new ROM. Going into the rainbow and then soft resetting will not actually do anything.

You need to set your phone on a table, and with one hand hold down the two buttons on the face of the phone (red/green) and use the stylus to hit reset. you have to hold everything for a couple seconds.

When you do it right, you will get to a gray screen. If the phone starts booting, do it again because something didnt register.

When you get the gray screen- you will be asked to press enter - thats the button in the middle of the "squircle" -- after that press "green" to hard reset.

The phone will wipe itself and reinstall some things. The first boot take much longer to complete that you are used to- thats normal, just wait it out. The boot time will be back to normal after this one.

So-- back everything up, do the instructions above, and see if that fixes whatever got corrupt on your phone.

Sorry, I was actually going to reinstall the ROM and got messed up. I'll just do your step.

Okay, everything is moving muck quicker now. No button lag but for some reason I still can't get the weather...

edit: Wait, HTC Home Weather just kicked in. Thanks SO much. I'm going to have to see what's going on. Is it supposed to keep the latest ROM update? I thought it would wipe that too.

Re: HTC Home Weather not updating/Device not Syncing correctly

Yup I don't know the exact technical working, (and this explanation could be completely wrong) but you can think of it as when you flash a ROM it gets written to a a chunk of memory that gets used like the CD that comes with Vista. A hard reset is like using a CD to reinstall the OS on your computer. (Does that make sense )

Re: HTC Home Weather not updating/Device not Syncing correctly

I'm having the same problem. I installed the 20270 rom on my Alltel Titan. I installed it with HTC Home and with out, then installed it seperately after the rom update, but either way I would have the same problem. I installed HTC Home Plugin v1 and v2.1 but had the same issue with both. How ever this is only when trying to use a customer database for a specific location. If I select a city from the default database it works fine. I'm done several rom installs trying to get this to work. I'm using the HTC Home Plugin with the HTC Home Customizer 1.0 final. When I was running the standard rom that came with my ppc and wm6 it all worked fine.
