Storage Card showing empty but used space still 1.25 gigs??

I was trying to copy a cab file to my 4gig storage card and then all of a sudden it just disconnected and when i went back to connect to it, it showed COMPLETELY EMPTY.

Ok before you go and tell me, I know this is the "infamous storage card corruption issue" but why would it still say that the file space is used and if the files are still there, is there any way I can recover my files? I have a lot of sensitive work information on that card.

Dan.

Yup PCI file recovery. It has saved my a$$ a couple of times.

Ok the program is allowing me to see a whole bunch of files that are really weird, DEFINITELY not what I had on the card before.

How do you use this program? I am really having troubles getting my files back.

It should work fine. It takes a while, but can recover stuff even after a format.

How about a custom Touch ROM? I can give you my selections (Been having the dreaded G'reloc error)

Sometimes PCI takes a while and the fragging of the card messes up the directories. surf thru the stuff it pulls up and somewhere in there are the files. It can be a bunch of stuff, since it finds all the lost files that have been on the card. That's why I said it can take a while. I trust you have the card in a card reader or something?

Yes I have my 4gig SDHC card in a card reader. Mainly I am only recovering important files such as my Registered TomTom7 USA&Canada Maps, Voices, Map Overlays, Pictures, and Documents. I really don't care about the rest.

And sure I can build you a custom ROM no problem. You helped me, I'll help you.

Just send me an email, you will find my email address in your PM, with all the things you want in the ROM and I will do what I can.

It might take a while cus I want to get my card recovered first and it is taking it's good old time.

I was actually able to recover all important files. I now have a TOTAL Backup on my 120GIG external hard-drive just in case something like this ever happens again. I'm even changing my ROM again just in case that had something to do with it.

Re: Storage Card showing empty but used space still 1.25 gigs??

always a good idea to pull your card out, say once a month and copy it to your PC.

Not just for the reasons of possible data loss, but also for those odd days (like I get) that I "clean out" the old stuff that I think I don't need and find out 2 weeks later that I did. LOL

Just takes a few minutes, I'm sure you have 8Gb free on your computer. Cheap insurance policy
