data roaming on sprint

I have the touch on sprint and i just got my roaming working with the "roam only" registry edits and calling to get my HLR updated.

Phone calls via verizon roaming work (confirmed through not entering an area code and getting verizon message) but when i data roam it dials #777. It shows as 1x speed on the top and the speedtest shows 1x speeds but the ip-address is still a sprint address

Is this how it always works? can someone check with their phone? thanks
