Re: How do you confirm Rev. A after upgrade?
This is from an article in PC Magazine:
"Sprint and Verizon already use the EVDO type of wireless broadband connection, but limit it to PC cards, while the cellphones use the much slower EV-DO Rev. 0. The speed jump is nearly double. Rev. 0 operates between 400 and 700 kbps while Rev. A bumps that up to 600 to 1400 kbps." So, if you do a speed test and get a dl faster than 700kbps, you're probably Rev A enabled. |

try checking where your closest bell tower is and try a test near it and see if you get good speeds... if you've flashed with the latest radio , it should be enabled by default.... i get avg speed of 400-500kbps... on a 3 bar signal... where i live...its quite far from the nearest tower ... but my best was 1400 kbps when i had a 4 signal on the road... if you search for tower location on howard forum you will find a site with google map and you can locate one nearest you and test it from there.. |
Re: How do you confirm Rev. A after upgrade?
bell tower is one block from home....no go. side note, in my *778 settings i have no string to enable or disable evdo rev a. seems to me this would have been in the rom even if rev a is area dependent? - hipo

umm.... 1400 compared to 150 sounds like a confirmation to me! are you using a custom rom? where are you located?

Re: How do you confirm Rev. A after upgrade?
no custom yet... its stock with 3.09 from bell... im in montreal, qc
mind you ive tested various places 3 locations in montreal ... where i work ( i get 500-600 with 3 bars), home (300-400, 2-3 bars) and my parents (500-600 3 bars) and all 3 locations are 3-4 blocks away. the one time ive been up north on the road i found several spots while driving (my wife on the wheel) with 4 bars so i tested and i got mixed results from slow 300 to 1400 with 4 bars... may be because im moving ...not sure so I can only guess that the location and signal strength is important. |
Re: How do you confirm Rev. A after upgrade?
Quick question guys, for REV A should it be set as enabled or disabled for Sprint? I had it set as enabled but read that having it set as disabled activates REV.A. What is the correct setting?
