Re: How do you confirm Rev. A after upgrade?

I think we Bell Touch folks are out of luck with regards to Rev.A option. I've been digging around the web in the past few days and couldn't find any solid information if this is available for their phones. I did find articles relating to June 2007 about Bell / Aliant / Novatel working together on upgrading networks to Rev.A at cost of $10mil (appears eastern Canada only). But this information relates only to a mobile network (ie; PC's and laptops). Well, with Bell being a sponsor for the 2010 olympics, maybe Vancouver might see an upgrade to Rev.A as well, but probably only for mobile computers.

Side note, just noticed that the link on the HTC site for the Bell ROM upgrade is missing... again.

That should give you a good idea if Rev A is even available in your area.

...then why, when i dial ##778# and look in my settings, is there no rev a enable or disable? Only packet string that exists is #777.
Perhaps I need to reflash? Load a custom Rom?

Ah, but it also says, "* EV-DO Rev. A is network dependent and may not be available in all areas." Maybe if it's network dependent, then could it be set when the PPST runs as the last stage of the ROM upgrade?

Anyway, it looks like this parameter isn't available either with the 3.09.666.1 download (still running stock only) for my location. Would be nice if someone else that is running stock (ie; hasn't loaded other ROMs) can verify if they have this parameter.

Side, note, found this link showing locations of Canada cell towers by carrier. To bad it can't tell if the tower's hardware has been upgraded to Rev.A capability. http://www.ertyu.org/steven_nikkel/cancellsites.html

well just because a rom does not give you the ability to enable/disable, does not mean you do not have Rev A....have you tried running a speed test?

according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EVDO , Rev A gives you an upload of up to 1.8 Mbit/s, whereas Rev 0's upload is up to 153 kbit/s.

Yeah, that might be a a possibility about PPST.....I checked after flashing the official & did not see it in 778, but I did not run carrier customization.

maybe if someone on Bell can verify, after flashing the official w/ customizations & PPST.

My point though, Bell is not gonna advertise this rom has Rev A, but not enable it.

Remember, You might have ur phone rev.a enebled but rev.a depends on coverage area.
Go to post #21 for instructions on how to get unlock code/MSL

My HTC Mogul sprint does have this rev.a parameter but it was set to "disable". I am still using the stock ROM 3.35. I was able to edit this parameter to enable, reset the device and now it does show "Enable" does this confirm rev.a functionality on my phone or do I need to still upgrade to the latest ROM?

Also I am pretty happy with my current phone setting with WM6 and 3.35 ROM. Is there any compelling reason to upgrade to the latest ROM? Sprint websites mentions the below upgrades:
1. Upgrades the operating system from Windows MobileĀ® 6.0 Professional to Windows MobileĀ® 6.1 Professional
2. Adds Sprint TV
3. Includes all enhancements incorporated in previous software upgrades including:
EV-DO Rev. A functionality for faster download and upload speeds when utilizing data services wherever EV-DO Rev. A coverage is available
Advanced GPS functionality including the Sprint Navigation application
Adds a Task Manager to the Today screen for easier access and management of running programs

Apart from rev.a I am fine with the existing ROM.

Speeds attached
