HTC PPC GPS router

In Dharvey's ROM I came across a curiuos "HTC PPC GPS router"
utility, that has something to to with USB and com ports..

Google search did not yield any results..

can someone explain what does it serve for?

I'm specifically interested to learn if it can be used to help
connecting an external USB GPS device to the Touch,
.
..if such thing is possible at all..

(they call is "USB on-the-go", when host and client exchange the roles,
but say that this is an upcoming standard, and probalby nothing like that is functioning at the moment?)

Re: HTC PPC GPS router

I'm looking for an answer for this as well. Testing the app but can't get it to feed GPS data to my laptop.

Re: HTC PPC GPS router

hrmm, I'm not familiar with this software you guys are mentioning, but I have had luck with GPSGate.

Unfortunately GPSGate is not one of the free solutions. However, there is a 30 day trial available.

I'm using Bluetooth (you can use USB/ActiveSync too) to feed the GPS data from my phone to my laptop.

You need to install GPSGate on both the PocketPC and the PC itself.

It's relatively easy/simple to use. I would recommend it to try at the very least, especially if you are in a pinch.

On the note of the software at hand, after I'm back from my trip I will look into it.

I'm having one issue with GPSGate and that is the phone shuts off the GPS whenever it goes into Standby. I'm currently looking into ways to prevent this.

I know you said bluetooth, but try this:

1. Under power / advanced / on external power uncheck "Turn off device if not used for"

Now it will not go into standby when plugged into your cable. I use this for tethering and GPSgate. I know it's not a bluetoothsolution (unless you unchecked the dialogue box temporalily for battery power), but bettter than nothing.
