Unattended Mode

I'm developing an app for the Touch which utilizes its GPS capabilities even when it is in "sleep" mode (power button has been pushed). I've been able to implement this feature on the Palm 800w using a sample app from Palm but can't get it working on the Touch

.

I've found two applicable articles/threads but those have been no help either (one is from 2006

).
