Picture corruption???

First i apologize if this has already been discussed however I'm camping and only have internet access on my phone. I have tried searching but couldn't find anything.

MY QUESTION: Why are my pictures corrupted, I try to view them in htc album but all I see are boxed "x's"...when I try to view them with the default picture viewer I get an association error, I can view them w/s2v though.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this??? I am running the sss rom. Thanks in advance.

Re: Picture corruption???

1st question - are the photos stored on an SD card?
2nd question - if so, have you tried viewing on a PC using a card reader?

Re: Picture corruption???

Most likely, your picture directory on your SD card is now corrupt. This happens mostly due to power state issues. If your phone was powered-off while you had the camera open, or during any data activity, such as editing/opening an image, you can lose the entire directory.

This has me thinking... when you format a card using Pocket Mechanic, it asks you if you want to create a back-up copy of the FAT--and that seems like it would be a solution to our data corruption... Most of the time, the FAT is what is corrupt, not the images themselves...

Re: Picture corruption???

Answer 1: Yes, the pictures are located in: /storage card/dcim/100media/....

Answer 2: No, I'm camping and the ole' lady told me I could only bring my phone....Ugh withdrawls.

...I'm usually pretty careful about not leaving anything open if I power down or soft reset.

IF YOU CAN STILL view your pictures, I would copy what you can either off the phone totally, or onto main memory, if there is enough space...

Most likely, you are having the same problem I did when I first experienced corruption.

For me, I could no longer take any NEW pictures... they would just not show up... so I had to copy everything off, and format the card...

If I were you, I would copy to main memory, and then tell camera app to store to main memory until you get home.

What happened to me, was I wasn't using S2U2 at the time, and my camera button got pressed in my pocket, and ended up going into stand-by while the app was running... Who knows what it was doing--taking pictures? Not sure... but it fried my FAT...

The last time I had corruption, it actually killed my card, completely... I had to buy a new one.

Weird thing is, I never had these corruption issues with the stock 512Mb card...

s2u2 kept my camera from opening up in my pocket.
