Is the touch really an upgrade to the 700wx

Currently using a Treo 700WX flashed with Windows Mobile 6. I am loving this thing, snappy and just works like I want. I am looking at upgrading to a Sprint Touch, but was wondering if this would really be an upgrade or not. I do not sync with an exchange server, only POP email and don't see myself using the GPS function too much. EVDO revA would be nice as I do a good amount of browsing and downloading podcast. My maximum budget is 250.00 so the diamond, treo 800w and touch pro are out. I previously had a centro and really miss the size of that phone. I just don't want to drop 250.00 and not be pleased.

Well, it's a lot smaller, has more ram, faster processor, and such

you just have to decide if you can live without a hardware keyboard.

Go for it.

You will get use to not having a hardware keyboard Believe me.

Make sure you look around the site for a good custom rom. Stock will simply not do.
There alot more you can get out of the touch if your willing to invest the time to customize it.

On the Sprint SERO plan, and not eligible for the upgrade yet. Only been with sprint for a few months so will buying the phone outright.

Re: Is the touch really an upgrade to the 700wx

My previous phone was the Treo 700wx (did not upgrade it to WM6.1). The Touch is way nicer. The form factor is so much more pleasant - doesn't make me look like a geek with an oversized phone, and more importantly it can fit in my pocket (no need to use a holster). The touchscreen is so much more accesible because it is flush to the case, unlike the Treo 700wx that has it recessed. You might miss the keyboard, but I do not regret trading that for a better device. You get used to the soft keyboard.

You might also want to wait for the Touch Diamond at this point. I believe Sprint has announced they will be carrying it shortly?

eBay, eBay, eBay!!! I got my Touch for well under 200 bucks.. I left my 700 and never looked back. It is so much smaller and the screen is great. If you want to hold off a couple of months I will give you a great deal on it when the Touch Pro comes out.
