Question Switching from Sprint to Verizon

My wife started work with Verizon Wireless. She gets a real nice discount. We have the Vogue (Sprint Touch).... Million Dollar Question....

Can I take a sim chip out of a Verizon phone and slap it into the Sprint Touch and have it work?

Can I install the Verizon cab and have the Verizon apps work?

Will that work or do I have to plop more $ for a new phone?

Thanks in advance?

Re: Switching from Sprint to Verizon

Sprint does not use SIM cards, so the Touch does not have a slot for one.

Any Verizon apps might work as long as they're not network specific (i.e. you have to login to use them)

Don't think Verizon use sim cards. You may have diffficulty getting Verizon to accept the Sprint Touch but I have heard of people doing it. I heard it takes some luck and sweet talking... but that's just what I heard. I believe it's somewhere on this forum, don't remember where though.

Re: Switching from Sprint to Verizon

I was sent this information a few days ago from somebody who had talked to Verizon:

"I found out that Verizon is still working on importing ESN's from all the other carriers. The FCC regulates the amount of ESN's that they can import every two weeks. Unfortunately they are doing it by brand"

If Verizon has gotten the ability to port ESN's over, which I don't think they will on a regular basis. Even if you were able to, phones will never be able operate at full potential. But I know there are some really smart people at this forum who are able to come up with some hack, but V-Dub will not be able to give it to you.

Re: Switching from Sprint to Verizon

Verizon does not use sim cards. Sim cards are only used for GSM phones, not CDMA.

Re: Switching from Sprint to Verizon

You would have to send in your device to Verizon and they have to decide its usable on their network. I read somewhere it could take 3 or 4 weeks

Re: Switching from Sprint to Verizon

Even tho your girl may get some perks I wudn't switch, If it wer me I'd stay on the sprint network.. New upcoming technology for Vision, Cell Towers, and Phones (Video Conferencing) just a few things to mention.. Oh the plans are getting better with unlimited txt, piks, vision etc.. Im not here to sell you on them but to me Verizon doesn't compete with Sprint's Level. Waiting on the Diamond to get into my hands Sept 2,08..
