Re: Good Car Mount - any suggestions?

I'm using the exact one right now for my htc touch--it holds the weight just fine, the arms are adjustable. The beauty of this setup is that there is NO adhesive, just two sturdy clips that go onto the vent blades. They are strong enough to not come off accidentally but you can take them out if you want without damaging anything. FWIW, I think it's a heck of a lot better than a cupholder mount--the things is practically at eye level.

You can't use a windshield mount in California. It's illegal. A cup holder mount is good for one of those mini laptops like an eeepc but not ideal for a PDA. You want the PDA closer to eye level for GPS use.

Here's a good vent mount for $13 shipped.

That's the one! It's 9.97 in the automotive section of super wal-mart. They also have one that is a bit more adjustable, also by Scosche, that's in the electronics island next to the TomTom and Sirius radio stuff, this one swivels/pivots, but I felt it was a bit too much for a sleek phone like the Touch, so I went with the simpler one. Honestly, you can't go wrong with this.

Just curious, Where do people in cali put the GPS device? It's more dangerous If U don't put it on the windshiled.

Even though the website doesn't mention it there is a flat thin round base mounting device(glued down and is the size of the suction piece) that can be put on your dashboard so you can put the suction end piece onto it. I got 4 of these and they all work pretty well. I think it's a great deal for this price. I ordered each item on a separate order. I do not know if they will allow you combine one coupon code to multiple items on the same order. Well, you can try and see if it will work if you need more than one.
That's hot. definitely getting one of these. I got the winshield mount with the bendable thinghy but I like the one on the link coz It's the same as the one that came with my GPS.

Cali is it's own little country isn't it? They thrive on bypassing any logic or common sense just to be different. Before focusing on how a phone or GPS impairs someones driving, they should worry about making all of the cars bullet proof!

Re: Good Car Mount - any suggestions?

Arkon makes a quality, versatile all-in-one product kit that allows mounting in the vents or via suction device on either the dash or windshield. I own two for use with a Touch, and they work well in both a casual (auto) as well as industrial (Semi Tractor-Trailer) application with a minimum of installation hassle.

The way the device holding arms are designed allows you to easily insert the mini usb, access reset, adjust volume and hit the on/off switch while your phone is held in the well padded cradle. The extension arm itself allows for a wide range of adjustments to suit the individual user's applications, and all the adjustment points hold their set position well under some pretty rugged (Northern Illinois/Southern Wisconsin) road conditions. Yes, the extension arm is quite susceptible to vibration, but even in the Semi on the worst of roads the device has never worked free of set adjustments with the Touch on board, or thrown the phone from the cradle.

I assure you I have no stake in Arkon. For what it is worth, I am simply an "industrial" user who puts these kind of devices through some pretty tough challenges day after day, and the simple to install and easy to use mounts these guys make has cleared the "gorilla" test with flying colors.

The accord is sweet. Had it for a couple of years now. It's a 2003 six speed so I suffer from having lead foot. I know what you mean about the new accords being big. Not sure why they did that. I think I'm going to keep my car for a couple of years then get the next generation RSX when it comes out. It's supposed to have a similar turbocharged engine as the RDX and I think AWD too.....IDK will have to see how much it cost because the Accord will still be fun to drive 5 years from now....
