smeg had it right, its the easiest way to keep it gone. I saw the edit here plus there are some other pretty good ones:

They are in the registry. It should get rid of it if you go to hklm/Software/Microsoft/Inbox/Svc and delete Activesync. I'd try moving it first to be sure it works before deleting it.

I have tried this, as well as simply renaming the folder and/or the Name value.
