Question Striping all the crap off Sprint Rom - How to go about it?

Sprint's official rom is just loaded with crap.
How can I get rid of all that Sprint garbage? Can I use a clean HTC rom and add some apps to it? Or should I use an official Sprint Rom and strip out all the extra apps?

How would I do that?

Thank You

Re: Striping all the crap off Sprint Rom - How to go about it?

I am not sure of how well this would work with a Touch for Sprint...

In the brief time I had an ATT Tilt (the HTC Kaiser) i learned how to remove that devices bloatware...do a hard reset and when the messege about shutting down in 3 seconds to customize pops up. poke your stylus in the reset hole near the usb input. It should start up without installing the Sprint customization file.

You will not have any of the sprint customizations at that point. You may be taking off essential software. I have no idea what will be gone then as i never did that on my touch. I guess if this doesnt work for you, just hard reset and allow the customization to happen.

Good luck.

I imagine if you you do a search, you should find a custom ROM to your liking, then it's just a matter of going through the flash process.

Re: Striping all the crap off Sprint Rom - How to go about it?

you would download the new rom. make sure you have winzip/winrar installed...right click the new exe, click "extract here" extract the files.

download OMJ's vogue kitchen tools (in his rom making thread) take the 2.nbh and run prepit.bat on it. follow the instructions for the kitchen fromthere.

Re: Striping all the crap off Sprint Rom - How to go about it?

when I did the soft reset to keep the sprint crapware off it kept me from using the internet, everything worked fine except for anything that needed access to the internets. Once I did another hard reset and let the crapware take over it was working perfectly

Re: Striping all the crap off Sprint Rom - How to go about it?

When I finally cook my own rom, it's gonna basically be only what I have on my phone and what I use (if I can).
Not sure how on the cooking of ROMs to have in there SMS-CHat, Eye Photo, and Mobile Shell, but I will learn when I am ready to sit down and do some cooking....
