SD Card Association has specified these classifications:
Class 2 - Capable of 2 MB/sec continuous transfer rate
Class 4 - Capable of 4 MB/sec continuous transfer rate
Class 6 - Capable of 6 MB/sec continuous transfer rate
Trouble can occur if your driver and controller try to send more data per second than the class rating for an extended period. ActiveSync is so slow, it's not going to burn out your card even if unclassified. Same for your phone's processing. But using some USB devices to connect your card to a PC can burn the card out. It depends on your PC's USB driver settings and whether the PC correctly recognizes the card, applies correct driver, and you have the driver set right.
Hope this helps, MrG
