I'll do it again and time myself.

Keep in mind that it locks quicker as well when it's in a stationary position and not moving at all.

10 min have gone by and nothing. It still keeps saying seeking gps satellites (0) and the blue flashing dot at a location 1 block from where I am currently stationed. It was bright and sunny outside when I was doing it. There must be something else that is going on. I want to get to the bottom of this. It's bothering the crap out of me.

Re: GPS NEVER gets a lock!

there is no GPS receiver that is accurate on position. It can take up to 3 meters range. The most accurate is the sirf star III chipset with waap enabled. waap is develop by garmin. It acts like a server that determines ur exact position. It's range is 3 feet max on ur current position. Just so U guys know.

Re: GPS NEVER gets a lock!

Use the scan function of the GPS Viewer to determine whether your touch has the GPS on COM4: port. The Viewer gives 3 possible results:
- Open failed - Cannot open COMx: port
- Found GPS! - The software can communicate with the GPS hardware
- None - COMx: open, but cannot find GPS harware.

You need to make sure that your Touch "Found GPS!" before waiting outside... Otherwise, you are waiting your time because you have hardware/ROM problem.

My Touch sometime gives me "None". In this case, I have to soft reset my Touch before GPS working again.

That's the same experience I've had with my Alltel Touch. I'm actually on my fourth. One was able to get gps locks for two days then never again. No matter which rom I used.

Re: GPS NEVER gets a lock!

Guys it seens like a lot of people are having this problem. I myself am as well and i think its just the area your in. For example where i live i always try to get a sat lock but get nothing; yet when i drive away maybe 20 miles it locks. I'll shut it off than try to lock again, it finds the sats in no time always, yet when i get back home and sats are not locked and i try to lock onto sats it doesn't find anything.

That's from my experience. I still don't know what to make from it.

Re: GPS NEVER gets a lock!

Just got my first sat lock since fiddling around with this crap. It locked before getting into my car and it showed me moving on Google Maps. Thought it was the coolest thing until I tried it again and got nothing. Only if it was more consistent, I would invest in buying a larger microsd card and install some nice GPS software. Until someone can tell me how they can get consistent locks, I'm gonna use that same money and buy a GPS receiver.

Re: GPS NEVER gets a lock!

I changed the following registry setting to improve the locking time. My Touch can get a lock even in my office in less than 20 seconds. BTW, I never got a lock in my office before.
HKLM->Software->HTC->SUPL AGPS/GPSMode=4
