I Benchmarked the Video/Performance of select roms today and found....
I have heard about new graphics drivers and this and that, so I decided to spend a day and download different roms and test them with a program that benchmarks graphics and a few other things.
These Results are from Virtual Spaghetti's VSBenchmark2007 . (.cab link 12+ MB's) VSBenchMark tests the following categories: 1. Graphics; Solar System Graphic 2. Others; File r/w, Fill, Compression 3. JPEG 4. Games; 5 layered sprite 5. Music; Plays a 1 minute song. 235Kbps @ 44 Khz *** All tests were run with the Rom as downloaded. No customizations were run. Each ROM was tested twice and received an Average score. I was quite shocked at these test. I thought a newer SYS would be faster than an old one, I was certain some folks had accellerated graphics drivers. I will attach my results to this thread in an hour or so...done. Edit: On a side note I had no troubles flashing the above roms, and in no particular order. I think ALL these roms are great while they all definately have their Chef's Signature. I run my own rom which btw...came in with a score of 1431. But I'm not into sharing my rom ![]()

Yeah. That's why I only put official release on my phone. No disrespect to the chefs. They do a great job for customs but it's personal preference for me.good job mr.rstoy

Re: I Benchmarked the Video/Performance of select roms today and found....
I'd be curious to see the graphics results of the new Treo 800w since it may or may not have hardware graphics acceleration.

I tried it with my 800w, and it didn't appear to be doing anything. It appeared to have frozen my device until I powered off. Then powered on, went to Task Manager, saw it's taking appox 9% of CPU. Switched focus to it, then same apparent lock. Gave it 5 minutes, no change. Experiment over - it failed. They specify supported screen sizes on their site, and only square screens are 240 and 480. I assume this is not typical behavior for the app? |
