Alltel ROM Help

ok so I have tried searching and reading as much as I can but there is so much info in every thread it just gets confusing.

Now that alltel has an official 3.xx radio, if I flash to a custom ROM and decide I don't like it, is it safe to go back to the OEM version?

Also most ROMS are for sprint, can someone point me to the best and latest Alltel specific ROM where customizations can run that will enable GPS?
