text entry sprint navi, backlight issue

Anyone have an issue with not being able to adjust backlight brightness? while my phone is on the charger it will light up to the setting i set. While off charger no matter how many times i soft reset or slide the brightness/darkness bar nothing happens with the backlight.

Also im having an issue in sprint navigation...when i push the button for the keyboard to pop up to enter an address, it just pops up and goes away really fast not allowing me to type anything. the only way i can enter a street address is if i use the SPB Full Keyboard.
