Alarm Clock not sounding

okay, i've searched far and wide, and I can't seem to find a solution to my alarm problem.

using the OEM alarm, I set it, make sure it's turned on, make sure a working ringer is assigned, etc. The pop-up reminder for the alarm pops up just as it should, but no matter what I try, the alarm doesn't "sound". If you have any idea what could be the problem, I'd appreciate the help...
