GPS on Bell.ca

I'm curious what other bell users' experiences about GPS are.

having tried several ROMs I'm now using NFSFAN's 1.09 with PPST run..

Usually I have fix within a minute from cold start,
using either GPSviewer or HTC GPS Tool..

What I find curious,
that sometimes, it cannot find a GPS fix for a long time,
and to help it, I need to do a soft reset,
after which a DIFFERENT SET of satellites
comes up (different satellite number in the aforementioned programs)
even thought I'm at the same location, but different time
(satellites must be moving, then )

my question is - if anyone knows- where those satellite number are stored in the phone, and if those numbers are attributed
to the satellites permanently, or they are just shortcuts in my phone?

Re: GPS on Bell.ca

Well the answer is quite simple: You live in Canada. There aren't any Satellites or technology in Canada. Too many mountains.

Just kidding, consider this a bump.

Re: GPS on Bell.ca

Humm, I wonder if I should get a [B]LG vx8500, just joking of course.

As far as I know GPS sats are geo synchronous, this should mean stationary to earth, you have a good question, why do the sat numbers not stay static if you are static. There must be a way to tell the software to look here first, I guess that is called a hot start but it doesn't seem to be working right.

Well .. as my experience (and wiki if one trusts it ) tell us, they are NOT,
and if they are not, then what's the point of storing the satellite numbers onto the phone, if they change even as we speak ???

I tried to get rid of them (without rebooting) using "clear memory" function
of HTC GPS Tool, but this does not seem to work.. I thought that maybe it is in the registry somewhere, easy to kill??

???
