Alternative to GPSGate?

I just upgraded to the new "Official" Sprint rom and I want to use the GPS with IGuidance 4.0 but it appears the only way it will work properly is by using the AstroLauncher and GPSGate, but GPSGate costs $20. I already paid a good amount of money for IGuidance and I'm a college student, so if there is a free alternative to GPSGate I would be very interested. Any suggestions, or am I stuck paying the extra money so my maps work properly? Thanks for any help.

Re: Alternative to GPSGate?

I'm using Gpstoday and it is a good start, or google maps, start it first then the Map software.

Re: Alternative to GPSGate?

Im not sure if there is, i dont know any, other program that can do what GPSGate does. Sad but iGuidance needs to get a fix for this problem. I dont really use it anymore b/c of it.

I don't use iGuidance but do use GPSGate. Check your PM.

Re: Alternative to GPSGate?

I'm using iGuidance with the new Sprint ROM with no problem. I don't use any additional software. Occasionally, I'll have an issue getting a lock, so I go to the windows folder and open ppst.exe. Then I soft reset the phone and voila, GPS lock again. It's worked everytime so far (twice). I've been going over 2 weeks since the last time I had to do this.

So you don't ever have a problem with the map refreshing? I can get a lock, but the map just pinpoints my position and doesn't move. Do you have iGuidance 4.0? I'll have to try that and see what happens.

Re: Alternative to GPSGate?

Alternative to GPSGate: http://sourceforge.net/projects/gpsproxy/
You'll have to figure it out on your own though.

Other useful info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363431

BTW, I use Destinator 7 and it performs much better than iGuidance. You should give that a shot. It also has text to speech.
