Phone Radio Turned Off in the Middle of A CALL!!

I just got my HTC Touch and I'm experiencing a really annoying problem where the phone's radio will turn off in the middle of a call for no apparent reason (it effectively goes into airplane mode). If I re-enable it, I immediately get full bars. It's not as if I just lost the signal. This once happened 3 times within a 10 minute phone call. Very annoying to say the least.

I'm using the latest radio from Sprint, 3.42.30, and Windows Mobile 6.1 Kitchen 19588. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a known solution to this problem?

thats happened a couple times to me and i have not pointed a finger at the solution yet..but its odd that it happens when my phone usually gets low on battery life (30-40%)

It happened to me once a couple of days ago after I had been tethering for about 15 minutes. The phone was fairly warm to the touch and suddenly it went into airplane mode. When I brought up the comm manager, that was the indication it gave, also. It didn't look broken, it looked exactly as if I had put it in airplane mode. I flipped it back to normal mode and it picked right up where it left off and didn't do it again. My radio setup is the same but, like you, I'm stumped and I seriously doubt there's any kind of solution to a problem this random. But I have gotten to where I don't trust this phone anymore (for various reasons) and I'm thinking that if it does it again, I'm probably going to toss it and get something more reliable.

That bites. I haven't had this happen yet. I'm not much of phone talker though. I stream audio for hours at a time and occasionally get a pause from network congestion but never lose the connection completely. I guess it's another thing to look forward to. Altough my Treo700wx was bulky and ugly, it was stable as a rock. I was thinking of getting the Touchpro but maybe I should look into the 800 since HTCs are really buggy.

Sucks to hear that, I have yet to really have a problem like that. Though I sometimes can't complete a call but if I try again it goes right through. I guess each rom here has its own quirks.

It didn't click that it was a kitchen rom.

I'm using JD's Hybrid rom and haven't seen that issue. My only complaint so far is that if turn off my Bluetooth headphones while Resco Radio is playing it will occasionally lockup.

I was thinking the same thing about the Treo. I have one sitting right next to me and if Slingplayer wasn't the size of a postage stamp on that thing, I'd be using it right now. On the Touch, however, I'm using the latest from Sprint. No customized or kitchen anything.

I might have to experiment with other ROMs. Perhaps the kitchen I'm using suffers from this.
