From Newbie- How do I get gps on Alltell Touch? (not sprint)

I'm a newbie to updating phones and am trying to filter through all of the sprint (and other carrier) forums to determine how to get GPS onto my HTC touch. I have Alltel as my carrier and have updated my ROM to the 3.04.671.2 version, but do not know what then next steps are as I'm not sure if I should be using the same methods as sprint users need to use. Obviously, GPS is not functioning on my phone with just the Alltel ROM version update. Do I need to update or add drivers or run another program? And, can you give me a link to those drivers or programs (or suggestions for which ones are best)? Thank you.
