Tethering on Bell?

Just wondering if anyone's been able to tether on Bell without charges using the reg edits that are going around for Internet Sharing. Very interested in this for when I travel within the province. I have the unlimited mobile browser and no data plan.

Re: Tethering on Bell?

I would be interested in knowing the answer as well, would be great for the times when there's no free wireless signals.

Re: Tethering on Bell?

They are talking about REG hacks found in this post : http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=30265

Also, NFSFAN latest ROM (Now 1.08 ) already has those hacks. I'm using this ROM and tried tethering 1 time ... I'm waiting for my invoice becore doing it again... NFSFAN told us he hadn't been charged ...

Re: Tethering on Bell?

I have used those registry hacks for the last few months, and have tethered for long periods on many occasions, and I'm glad to say that I haven't been charged.

Re: Tethering on Bell?

I went into my registery to apply the hack and found the good place in the menus, however I cannot find the specified keys/values.

Exemple: I did find HKLM\Comm\InternetSharing\Settings\ but I did not find "ForceCellConnection"

I have been using Kitchen Rom

Re: Tethering on Bell?

those registry hacks do not work, it will eventually catch up to you, I speak from experience as I received a 1300 dollar bill, and it took 6 bills to track the data. the only way to ensure you don't get charged is to use pdanet.

Re: Tethering on Bell?

I've just installed JD's latest ROM so it was already set upon installation, which in my case was to "CDMA Data".

As for being billed, that is rather strange that they would wait until 6 invoices later.. then again its not the first time that Bell has billed incorrectly. Guess this is pretty much just treading on uncharted territory. But there doesn't seem to be any signs that point to any of the data used during any of my tethering sessions to be considered as Data rather than a connection occuring on the phone.
