Question GPS positioning way off

Ok, after flashing to the new Radio (3.42.30) GPS was working fine for a few days. Last night I wanted to test out a few ROMs, so I flashed a few of them and played with them for quite a while. Today I flashed JD 6.30.08 ROM and then went back to NFSFAN 1.08 Bell ROM. But with both ROMs I have loaded TomTom6 and googlemaps, and both of the programs are showing me at a totally random location. Googlemaps shows me about 5 Km away from where I amand then TomTom loads me up at the exact same location. Could it be poicking up another GPS signal? And how can I fix this?

How many sats were you locked onto?

I was locked onto 2 and sometimes 3, not nearly as many as I had before. but then I did a hard reset...nothing changed. Another hard reset, and Bingo it worked again. Kinda weird, but hey it worked

How can the touch lock onto satellites? I thought there was no actual gps chip in there. Isn't it just tower triangulation?

Re: GPS positioning way off

There IS an actual GPS chip in there, but you need a newer rom to enable the drivers.

It will ALSO use tower triangulation as well for quicker locks and such.

there are many threads on the GPS chip within the Vogue and how to activate it with by flashing new roms. it was always there, just not turned on. just like the rev.a

i typically get 8 to 9 sats. i get 5 or 6 within my house (with the sprint leaked rom).

Re: GPS positioning way off

my gps lock time has dropped to 10 seconds!!
i get max 8-9 sats everytime in my house and outside.
when plugged to power i get 10 sats.

this gps rocks so much, im scared to flash to another rom i might lose this reliability, lol

I think that is your problem. I'm not an expert, but I don't think 2 sats is enough to give an accurate location. My understanding is that 3 is really the minimum for an accurate position and that 4+ is preferable.
