iGuidance has TTS, but the interface isn't as nice as Garmin XT. I also use Garmin XT and I've been pretty happy with it.

+1 it would be nice to not need to prime it but once you install atrso GPS and create the new shortcut (not that big of a deal) it works great. I am VERY impressed with the signal quality indoors and how fast it locks, well under 30 seconds every time even indoors

I also tried astro launcher which does work. but in the end, i installed GPSgate to prime TomTom. There is a 15day trial to play with the product and Its $14 which is a reasonable price. and i most like the fact that you could configure it to autostart during any soft reset. So its in on all the time. additionally it creates a icon on the bottom bar that changes colors to notify you what kind of GPS signal you are recieving. the icon is Red for no GPS , Yellow For Searching for satellites, or green for Seeing satellites and having a fix. which is very nice info to have on the main screen. The icon let you know if you have a Satellite fix before starting TomTom, Google maps, Live Search. which is nice.

If it's on all the time does it drain your battery noticeably?

Thanks,

Which maps are you guys using with tom tom 7? I am using the 2GB US map and tom tom is SLOW!!!

When i use tom tom 6, it runs much faster (but i am using a regional map with 6).

Has anyone else noticed a major difference in speed between version 6 and 7?

Is there a way to fix this? (i already tried turning off the POIs that didn't change anything :-()

Having your GPS on at all times is a waste of money. Not only will it drain your battery considerably, but your phone will always be using unnecessary cpu power, and would get very hot when charging because of the extensive use.

Why pay for a program when there's better free ones?
