Not really. People have already cracked all the files/drivers of the Diamond to my knowledge.

I work as a software developer and I would like to help out with the ATI drivers. I am not attempting to "cash in" on the donations by stealing others hard work so I will say that if I can help I will not accept any donations. I would just like to have these drivers working! What I would like to know is where is the information on what has been done already? I don't want to "re-invent the wheel" by starting from scratch. I think it would speed up the process if we could all work together on porting the drivers and share what we know.

Let me also just say that I am familiar with working in the kitchen and I am comfortable with flashing roms. I have been lurking these forums for a while now and would like to start contributing!

i tried starting a thread with this exact same idea and i got a whole bunch of testers and few to no developers all our major developers appear to prefer to work alone which i can understand to a certain extent. i am working very diligently towork on this but it requires a lot of work within a ROM before you can even think about the drivers truly working.

If you are willing to share some knowledge in the ATI driver area I will gladly help in any way I can. I have a decent knowledge of what is in the rom, but there is still some more I could read up on. Would you be willing to help me understand what is known about the drivers already?

I think it would be great to have a thread on this topic to post all of the information that has been found so that others have a good starting point and can collaborate together on this.

there has been more progress on this with other groups but they were never open source so i decided to make an open sourc group for us all to share what we do and keep up with progress unfortunately there were very few developers willing to put in a large amount of time. but chefs like boggsie and a few others have helped me.all of my ROMs are open source you can build custom off them add your own things and such.

Well folks I have heard from a very reliable source(he has asked to be left un-named but he is a member of this forum and is a Manager at a ) that the Touch Diamond will be coming to BestBuy. In Stock date was 8/17/08. So everyone can go bombard their local BestBuy come August.

If the Diamond comes out before the drivers are ported to the Vogue you WILL have the right to retract your bid only if you can provide proof that you purchased a Diamond.

Dan.

ill be honest i have a 800w right here too which is supposedly ddraw capable and i dont notice a huge difference in performance be it video or overall UI smoothness. i think the drivers are being overplayed a bit IMO and would only be 100% useful in things like Touchflo 3d and such.

I am still in. Unless telus gets the touch pro, and my wife lets me buy it @ full price i'm sticking with my touch for a couple years or more.

I have used one of the roms that "include the drivers" and I noticed a huge difference in the performance of SprintTV which was completely unusable for me before. The video skipped horribly and not due to slow connection.

i cant honestly say i use SprintTV much at all. But maybe it does improve that, but a very niche improvement. No real other OS enhancement for the average user. Didnt notice TCPMP playing a whole lot smoother or scrolliing n the UI so.... overall its not huge device-altering really

Actually, even if I did get the Diamond, I'd still follow thru on my donation. It's not like I'd throw the Touch into the trash. It would make an awesome backup phone for when something happens. :)

Of course, after 1 year or so, and no success, I can't guarantee I would continue to follow thru with my promise....

Hey whats up guys? I just snapped up a Vogue for $157 lol, Gonna be putting my mogul on ebay in a week or two and was wondering if anybody was ACTUALLY working on this? All the plegded money means nothing if there isn't a organized and active development with progress updates. At this point everyone that has pledged is in effect a name your own price customer....catch my drift?

Closer than you think :P

I'm working with someone close on this and all I can say is that it works with only one issue, which I'm working on getting fixed at the moment. I will not disclose anymore than this.

The drivers posted by Dharvey are more or less pointless...The Vogue does not have the ati hardware, it could at most use probably an emulation. However the D3D hardware that it does have works just as well as the one on the kaiser. A little surprise for all: TCPMP mpeg4 benchmark DirectDraw 185% with avg 55.41 fps, size of 1 minute file (5 mb)

Good luck enforcing that. Business 101: get money or a contract first, then do the work. You have neither. You also have a conflict of interest problem.

What kind of performance is going to determine success of this project? I mean, if you make drivers and they suck, did you succeed? What if they're just a little better than stock? What if only some things are accelerated? What if it's buggy? What if it works great, but your battery life is cut in half? what if it works great but is a resource pig? Who's going to validate that the solution is in fact hardware acceleration and not some form of optimization?

The Diamond will be shipped on the 12th, but not be in stores until the 14th, for sale on the 15th. Yes, this is very reliable data. I live in KC and several of my friends work for or are store/district managers for Sprint or Wireless Lifestyle stores. I went out drinking with them last weekend. Alcohol is great for getting information out of people. :D

Re: Working Vogue Video drivers BOUNTY($1646.00 so far!) - Pledge donations here!!!

The one off thing that struck me is the date is the same date that Sprint officially lauches XOHM and the N810W and the rest of their aircards. Kind of odd to hold one phone back for the XOHM launch, eh?
