Exclamation New Sprint 3.03 ROM on Bell Mobility

So I went ahead with the new sprint ROM upgrade. Unlike the test version, my Bell phone didn't like me running the PRI update to 2.04 using PPST. I was unable to authenticate on the EvDo network and kept getting IOTA errors as it was trying to provision my phone on the Sprint network.

I had to use the .cab from NFHimself to bring it back to the Bell 1.03 PRI level. I'm testing now to see if GPS is any better than before...

Well, so far the number of satellites remains the same for me... but it does *seem* somewhat more stable in terms of keeping a lock on those satellites.

What are other Bell people finding?

Re: New Sprint 3.03 ROM on Bell Mobility

I can sorta lock sats in my basement now (just 1 or 2, as opposed to the 3 needed), and it's totally worth the update if only to get rid of the 3.37.15 TEST ONLY screen on boot.

I wasn't brave enough to run the PPST on the new rom, so thanks for being our ginea pig for it

Re: New Sprint 3.03 ROM on Bell Mobility

So I played around with this some more... maybe I'm getting too comfortable with flashing or something!

I extracted the new PPST cab from the official Sprint ROM and stuck it on my PPCKitchen ROM (see sig), extracted, and ran it.

It took a long time, but finally said it was done with the update and rebooted my phone. I was expecting to see a PRI update to 2.04 as I did on the Sprint ROM... but this time my PRI stayed at 2.03 (which I upgraded a while ago from Bell's v1.33) and my PRL changed to 05075.

I wasn't expecting that, but everything on the phone is still working properly. I'll run some more tests to see what kind of trouble I've gotten into.

I'm not sure if this is related... but I noticed I was running in GPSmode 2 instead of 4... so I changed it... now I get 2 more satellite locks... indoors!

Re: New Sprint 3.03 ROM on Bell Mobility

Do you think the PPST cab you used would make a difference with the older radio 3.37.15?

I'd do the full radio and re-flash the rom i"m using but I'm just getting a little FLASH weary... (mind you I prefer all of this action as opposed to none).

Re: New Sprint 3.03 ROM on Bell Mobility

So I went back to the Bell PRI and then repeated these steps but was unable to get the Sprint PPST to do the same thing. So I'm back to the test PRI 2.03_003.

No idea what happened the first time I used the Sprint PRI on the v3.02 image but it probably didn't finish correctly.

When I had PRI 2.04 installed with the 3.02 PPCKitchen ROM I didn't have access to the internet... phone calls still ok.

I wouldn't try any of this unless you are feeling lucky.
