I'd take a bug-free (or as bug-free as testing finds) update that comes late (and unannounced, even) over an update that's locked into a deadline that may contain major issues.

Someone on XDA-Developers got confirmation from Sprint that the ROM upgrade will not be released until around the second week of July.

Unless someone provides an internal Sprint document that states the date, you can't believe what anyone at Sprint says about the update. You could call/email one minute and get one answer, then do it again a minute later and get a completely different answer.

Unless there's a press release or an internal document, there's no way of knowing when it will be released unless you got a hold of someone inside Sprint that is working directly with the release.

There was someone on here that works for Sprint that got an email about the Mogul update. That was pretty accurate. I'd trust his word if he got an email about the Touch update.

After the whole June 20th debacle, I was feeling a bit emo about the whole situation and sent and email to Sprint whining about how they didn't "appreciate" me as a customer. Pretty funny now that I look back on it. They responded by offering me the chance to use my 12 month $75 upgrade option now (5 months early) to get an Instinct, since I complained that it was already Rev A capable. I thought about it for about 5 minutes and decided that I'm not gonna go for it. The Instinct really doesn't offer anything more than the Touch, in terms of features and capabilities. Plus I would have to renew my contract.....

I spoke to a Sprint 'advanced technical representative' tonight ( 6-21-2008 ), and he did CONFIRM there is an update coming out within the next week for the Touch.

Personally, I am not going to run one of these kitchens and potentially brick my phone. I would rather let Sprint replace my phone if their update fails. I respect the hard work that many people (who are a lot smarter than me) have done, but I just can't see experimenting this close to the update being out.
