phone as modem question

I have a HTC Touch that I put the leaked stock software on. I didn't do anything to this phone at all but install the garmin XT software and ran the PPTC.Exe file that updates the PRI version.

Now, I have a laptop that I wanted to try to share an internet connection with. I have full internet on my phone, but I dont pay anthing for phone as a modem deal. I do have to say that it was working in my car and everything was connecting perfectly. I DIDN'T INSTALL ANY sprint phone as modem software. I just clicked on the internet sharing icon, chose the usb and sprint PCS option and that connected it to the phone. All worked for a few hours, then it all stopped working.

Was this supposed to work or was it an error on sprints behalf that it was working?

Can anyone help me with getting it to connect again w/o the use of the sprint software??

Anyone else ever experience this?

Did you make sure to hit connect on the phone BEFORE you plugged it into the usb cable?
