I dont know about that waas/egnos thing but i can answer the first part of your question

Hot is when the gps was used very very recently Probly, within 10 minutes. Warm is when the gps was used in the preceding 3 hours. And cold is when the gps didnt work for 3 hours or more.

Re: GPS Viewer Question??

ANS: WAAS is the Wide Area Augmentation System, EGNOS is the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service and DGPS is Differential GPS. All three refer to a technology that is used to reduce the errors created by atmospheric conditions between the satellite and receiver. The fundamental idea is that a ground station that is well positioned measures data from the satellites and compares it with the known accurate data. The station then transmits correction signals to GPS receivers based on the difference between what is received and what it expected to receive. That ground station approach is the fundamental DGPS approach. In WAAS and EGNOS, this data is linked from the ground station to a geostationary satellite to improve coverage. The GPS receiver in WAAS mode looks for that additional signal and applies the corrections. For some software, the presence of this additional signal and processing is marked. The accuracy using WAAS is increased from 10M without to 3M with it.
Xtrac and Xtrac2 are technology that allows the GPS to use weak signals. By using a process of mathematical analysis called Digital Signal Processing (DSP) the Xtrac receivers can extract weaker digital signals from the noise around them. That DSP does take some time, though, so in really weak signal areas there can be a slight delay as the DSP processes the signal. In the earlier Xtrac models that delay could be as much as 10 seconds, but in Xtrac2 the processing is signficantly faster and only rarely reaches more than 1-2 seconds. Most receivers have either WAAS/EGNOS/DGPS or Xtrac, but not both. Lately new receivers have appeared with both.

Re: GPS Viewer Question??

Pretty sure the GPS module in our Vogues, "GPSone", does not use WAAS unfortunately. It would be nice if it did... it makes a significant difference in the accuracy of the position.

I found this site helpful:

I found this on APGS on wikipedia.

Quote:
By having accurate, surveyed coordinates for the cell site towers, it can have better knowledge of ionospheric conditions and other errors affecting the GPS signal than the cell phone alone, enabling more precise calculation of position. (See also Wide Area Augmentation System)
I think that the Vogue GPS is a AGPS but I have no clue if the Bell Mobility network can provide that kind of info to our phones
