app at MS Tech-ed

Hiya.

I am at MS Teched in Orlando, FL this week. I attended some of the mobile sessions today and previewed some of the new toys.

The HTC Diamond is REALLY nice. There was an app on there, I thought was called "World touch mobile" tho I may have written it down wrong. Basically you photographed a business card, used the app and it OCR'ed the data and made a contact out of it. Anyone seen this? (or ripped it for the touch?) lol

Since I am here, anyone looking for any interesting info? lol

Re: app at MS Tech-ed

lol, well... I want to know more abt that app. I may have to poke around more tomorrow.

I heard later this year there will be an update to 6.1, possibly 6.2 or just an addon pack that includes some very nice IE updates.

let me see if I grabbed ms's notes....

ok, says

later this year, update will include a view of the "real" web not just the "mobile" web, adobe flash, full youtube, easier navigation, zoom, pan and mouse pointer.

they gave demos od dashwire.com, qik.com.

found it entertaining one of the mobile engineers had opera installed. lol.

they showed some of the changes to exchange server, and the systems manager pieces for the enterprise, ota provisioning, domain sync stuff, accessing filles thru echange proxy, vpn.

I am signed up for some other conferences tomorrow and may visit the mobiles area too.

I want to know about that app tho. looks very handy, esp at events like this. I saw it and played with it. scanned in my business card and it worked well. sorry about the spelling and lack of caps. using my Viao UX from hotel. ha

Hey found out earlier today that we were being demo'ed down in Florida. Dale Coffing called us asking about some privacy questions that came from the audience. Just curious how the demo(s) went and what you thought...

Demo went well. I signed up for an account! Dale wasnt the only guy showing your site! lol They were demo'ing it live. They have a few more sessions tomorrow.

I had to get a photo with Dale. We've chatted many times in the past, just never met!

Re: app at MS Tech-ed

Appreciate the feedback. And thanks for signing up! I used to work at Microsoft so I know a little bit about how they run things. Dale's a good guy. Weather over there has to be better than here in Seattle!

Mr Dashwire, Yeah, I know you used to work at MS. They gave me the scoop. Dale and a few MS guys from the mobile group were there with the demos. Weather is hot but finally getting some rain. I'm a "Floridian" so didn't travel far for TechEd. Was a blast tho, TechEd. But I'm BEAT. Awsome collection of professional geeks! I told my GF that TechED was like a crackhouse for geeks!
