Performance - For Everyone's Sake!

I think there's no question this phone is a bit slow in the graphics department. Someone mentioned that that the alltel rom seemed to have better video drivers, but I really didn't have it running long enough to notice. With the leaked rom and even before, I would notice that the screen would redraw slower than expected. For instance when going from the today screen to the dialer, the dialer seems to fill in by incraments instead of just popping up all at once. It only takes a second, so it's not that annoying, but definitely not very smooth compared to competing devices. Interestingly, it's takes much less time to return to the today screen from the phone app. Whether it's due to a lack of drivers by HTC for the graphics, or poor standard video drivers, I've just come to expect it from the vogue.

I have all the "problems" you do. Except for me, the icons on the start menu are whited out instead of blacked out. All these operations take less than a second, but you can still see it being drawn on screen during this time. With the Phone, and the programs menu. I attribute this to HTC's graphics drivers. Since we do not have hardware acceleration, the GUI is running in software mode. If you have ever used a Windows PC with the "Generic VGA display driver" or a GNU/Linux PC with the VESA driver then you know what I am talking about.

Like in post before here I have the same problems. When i hit contacts it takes a few seconds. Really it like that with all the problems when i try to open them. I dont expect them to open with lightning speed but it would be nice to go on the interent for example and have the phone scroll quick with out locking up on the page.

some will, some won't. you better stick to the vogue tweaks or the forum for the pocketPc tweaks...
