Re: Input on XV6900 Touch?
Its not hard, you just have to trust it. Make sure its set to T9, even though each button has two letters on it, you only need to press the button one time, and the phone will figure out the word for you. For instance, to type the word "think" you would press (TY),(GH),(UI),(BN),(JK). So long as you pressed each key only one time, the word will show in the list of possible words at the top, then you can either press space to choose the highlighted word or tap another word candidate directly on the screen to choose it.
For punctuation, you'll see the period, comma, etc greyed out on the keys as well, simply hold that key down to insert the symbol. I agree though, the Touch keyboard is a good idea, but its not implemented nearly as well as TouchPal, which has the same design, but many more features and improvements, Get the trial here www.cootek.com

Re: Input on XV6900 Touch?
i have the xv6900 too, and i use the keyboard pretty fast. depending if you have predictive texting or not its like using a qwerty keyboard. touch once for one letter and twice for the other letter. it took me some time to get use to. but for what the xv6900 comes with its ok

Re: Input on XV6900 Touch?
Well don't I feel dumb now. I was trying to do it like traditional texting via phone keyboard and it was annoying as heck as I kept getting two of the fist letter. I guess its not that bad.
I do have a problem using it in the search field of my Laridian PocketBible. I tried searching for the word father and it came up with datgeebar for some reason. Anyway, thanks! I'm way ahead of where I was. Questions: what is the difference between ABC mode and XT9 mode? |

Re: Input on XV6900 Touch?
XT9 is predictive text and it will help chooses the word before you have every letter pressed, and it saves time by not asking you to press each key multiple times for the second letter on the key.

It takes a little bit to train XT9, but it is well worth it.

Re: Input on XV6900 Touch?
i've got sbc (or whatever) keyboard. I have AE buttons map it to the volume up (held long). it's pretty awesome.
flip phone sideways while holding the button up, let go, full screen keyboard pops up, type with 2 hands. bingo. |

Re: Input on XV6900 Touch?
I use Touchpal. Have used it since it came out. It was actually the first thing I installed on my Touch when I got it. Come to think of it, I haven't used ANY of the stock sips. Might have to give them a try....
